Rust 2 Rome on STV tonight at 6pm!
Great news!! STV came round today to find out more about the Rust 2 Rome banger rally. Despite the rainy day they completed an interview with the Golden Oldies (David & Moyra) with their nice BMW 528i. It will be shown tonight on STV news at 6pm. Make sure you tune in to see the interview. I would like to give special thanks to Lynne and the camera crew from STV for showing an interest in Rust 2 Rome.

Mr Tunnock
I was along at Tunnock's in Uddingston yesterday picking up the stock from Fergus. He has very kindly given us hats this year as well as the usual supply of caramel wafers and tea cakes! Whilst in the massive Tunnock's building I had the pleasure of meeting Mr Tunnock. It was a pleasure indeed. We chatted away briefly and he was very interested in the rally. I wonder if maybe he was thinking in the back of his mind about taking part! Maybe some year you never know.
Once again I would like to thank Fergus and Tunnock's for all their support.
Team 07′s car finally purchased!
It seems that David & John of team 07 finally decided to go out and purchase something for the car rallyafter the Golden Oldies picked up their rather nice 528i from only a few days of searching! It's light, Japanese, fast, V6 and well it's a Mitsubishi FTO! They picked up the car for only £470 with tax and mot in Glasgow! It's time to start getting the FTO ready for the trip...

Golden Oldies, purchase BMW
Our latest sign up the Golden Oldies have just purchased their car, a E39 BMW 528i for a mere £500! It's only done 144,000 miles with service history to 134,000, auto with tiptronic and the first car ever to take part which has double glazed windows! Needless to say it's quiet inside. It's also very quick which as David, the main driver from Golden Oldies, seems very pleased about. Now the pressure is on for the remaining two teams who are still looking for a banger car...
Painting the Supra…
Well I decided it was time to paint the my 1986 Toyota Supra Celica at the weekend... I've went for matt black this time instead of satin black, well it's still black anyway. David was helping out and with all the prep and rubbing down the paint. Actually we just lightly scratched it with some special sanding pads then gave it a wipe and masked it up. The paint was drying quicker than I could apply it, but despite this I managed to get a really nice finish! It was raining on and off during the day but we managed to find a half hour slot to do the painting and although it was dry that didn't stop water coming out the end of the paint gun!! None the less it worked out great in the end as the car is now black and not bad for 5 hours work!
We are now offering this service called cheap, bad paint jobs for your car, 5 hour turnaround time for only £350!

Tunnocks sponsor Rust 2 Rome 4 years running!
I just heard back from the very kind gentleman at Tunnocks who has agreed to sponsor Rust 2 Rome once again. Tunnocks have been a valuable sponsor of Rust 2 Rome since 2008 when they first heard about the event. Since then cars have set off to Rome each year with Tunnocks stickers on all sides and many caramel wafers and tea cakes stored in cool boxes in the boot! One car even made it as far as Mexico complete with it's Tunnocks stickers which made for some very interesting pictures!
It's fantastic news that Tunnocks are continuing to show their support this year and it is much appreciated by myself and everyone who is taking part in the car rally. We are all very proud to have Tunnocks on the sides of our cars as we battle our way to Rome.
Thank you Tunnocks!

The Courier Feature Rust 2 Rome
Today The Courier have done a fantastic feature on Rust 2 Rome, with plenty pictures and a great write up which really sums up what the rally is all about perfectly! I would like to say a big thanks to Jack McKeown at The Courier for his time and of course the amazing job he's done with the feature.
If you've not got your copy yet be sure to pick one up as it's well worth it.
8th October 2011 – Rust 2 Rome Launches Second Date
For all those who cannot make it this July, fear not! You now don't have to wait for a whole year to take part in the amazing banger rally, you can now sign up for October the 8th 2011. The leaving date which was confirmed earlier this week will give all those who already have plans for the summer the chance to take part in the rally once again. The benefits of travelling in October are that it will not be too hot and of course all the attractions won't be nearly as crowded as they are in July! Hopefully quieter roads too! There are already several people signed up for the October date so it's looking like it's going to be very popular indeed. More info on October coming soon. Meantime you can sign up on the sign up page and choose the October date. You can also now sign up for the 2012 rally on the which leaves on the 1st of July 2012.
STV – Television Coming To Rust 2 Rome
Fantastic news today, STV have confirmed that they will be coming down on the leaving day of Rust 2 Rome 2011 to find out what it's all about and possibly interview some of the drivers of this years banger rally. Let's hope all the cars can make it off the start line this year without early breakdowns! Looks like the leaving day will be very exciting this year.
Special thanks to STV for showing their support.
The Courier
It's great to be back home after my trip abroad. Of course I was eager to get behind the wheel of my car only to find that one had a flat tyre and the other a flat battery... Well they wouldn't be banger cars if that didn't happen! Still glad I didn't take it to the airport and leave it there!
I got some good news this morning as The Courier got in touch and were interested to hear about Rust 2 Rome. I spoke to a very kind Jack McKeown who is arranging a feature for the rally. Make sure you pick up a copy of The Courier this Saturday to read the story! Special thanks to Jack for his help.
In other news, I am getting a lot of inquiries at the moment and sign ups are coming int leading up to the closing date this weekend. If anyone is still thinking about it, remember there is still space and there is still time. Please get in touch if you have any questions.
